Pig Feed Calculator
Calculate feed requirements for pigs from 8 weeks to 6 months (26 weeks, targeting 100kg)
Instructions
- Enter the starting weight (typically 18kg at 8 weeks)
- Enter the target weight (default: 100kg at 6 months / 26 weeks)
- Enter the number of pigs
- Click "Calculate Feed Requirements" to see feed needs by growth stage
Enter a start date to see projected dates for each growth stage
Typical: 18kg at 8 weeks
Default: 100kg at 6 months (26 weeks)
Feed Calculation: Feed requirements are calculated using Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) that varies by weight: 1.8 kg of feed per 1 kg of weight gain for pigs under 30kg, and 2.8 kg of feed per 1 kg of weight gain for pigs 30kg and above. The feed schedule starts at 0.45kg (450g) per day for 8 weeks, then gradually increases to meet weight gain requirements, reaching 2.5kg (2.5kg) per day when reaching 100kg at 26 weeks, ensuring FCR is maintained throughout the growth period.
Note: These calculations are based on typical growth rates and feed requirements. Actual feed needs may vary based on:
- Breed and genetics
- Feed quality and composition
- Health status and disease
- Environmental conditions (temperature, housing)
- Management practices
Always consult with a nutritionist or veterinarian for specific feeding recommendations tailored to your operation.
